Tom Keiser: Lust For Glory

I still kick myself for missing the end of USC/Notre Dame, but USC/Stanford a few years later (and the fact they would have a defensive end with my same exact name later on) made me a Cardinal fan.  I forgot to add the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, which looking back, maybe I should’ve rooted for Miami after all.

I don’t know what your actual favorite teams are, illex, or your favorite moments involving them are, but feel free to talk about them, and I’ll talk about mine.

Probably not.  Though I do live within a block of an underpass.

My family all supported H. Ross Perot in 1992 and 1996, and ever since I’ve been interested somewhat in politics.  Obama was the first person since Perot that I was actually supporting, and not voting so the other guy wouldn’t win.

I’m sure that in spite of the rhetoric, Obama will be re-elected, most likely in a landslide.  A lot of this will be because Osama bin Laden has been killed, but largely it is because the GOP has no one at this time.  Not even my own Governor, Chris “Johnny Roastbeef” Christie, wants to run in 2012.

Even so, I think it’s also because they’re all gunning for 2016.  The only race that is more open than next year’s Republican primary is 2016, unless Hillary decides to run at 68.  Obama and Hillary were gunning for 2008 when Dean and Kerry were sacrificed in 2004, and so Republicans will be hoping and praying the same happens.

I remember when Battlefield Earth came out, and I was legitimately worried about it being a Scientology recruitment vehicle.  A year or so ago, I caught it on Starz, and realized I had nothing to fear.  The producers intentionally overestimated the cost of the film to get a better tax writeoff, and you could tell that it certainly did NOT cost $75 million, or even the actual $45 million.

The fact that most of the cast takes it way too seriously makes it even better.  It is the closest thing we’ve had in decades to pure camp.

It’s all good.  I WILL SWOON AGAIN.

Everything and nothing.  I was supposed to be in Baltimore now, but a “friend” and I had a falling out and I got my money back.  I’ll probably go on a day trip somewhere other than Philly soon; I’m not sure where.  I’m writing a lot, but now I have to take care of my nephew and mow the lawn this afternoon.
